Introduction
Welcome to our Collectors Gallery that introduces images from contemporary historic automotive events from Steve Welsh Photos and acquired work presented by Steve Welsh Collection. Images will be available in print form to order from the forthcoming shop. In the meantime, please get in touch using the contact form for any requirements.
The images in this gallery are mostly from film and in black and white. A different thought process is applied to shooting in black and white than colour with an emphasis on tone, line, shape, form and texture, with a re-consideration of the quality of light as photography’s raw ingredient. This supports a less figurative approach in some images. There will be some colour images as well.
The aim is to offer limited edition prints from digital output on to quality art paper for collectors of the photographic image at A4 or A3. There will also be the opportunity to obtain traditional darkroom hand-made archival prints and potentially platinum/palladium work on a limited print basis. Images will be authenticated with a certificate on verso.
We aim regularly to feature new headline images, beginning with the 1908 Itala GP that used to feature in VSCC Edwardian events and is missed by many. The car was pictured at rest during the 1990 VSCC Weston-super-Mare speed trials in October of that year.
The first headline Steve Welsh Collection image is of Jackie Stewart giving Jo Bonnier a lift back to the pits on the tail of his BRM P246 at the British Grand Prix Silverstone 1965.
